Lake Tawakoni Striper Fishing

Dog Days of Summer

With the weather heating up so is the water temp…but we are still catching fish and some real good ones too…the Hybrids and Stripers have been showing up every day for us…some mornings you will get lots of surface action some mornings not…when they are surfacing we are throwing 4″ sassy shads chart. or glow in the dark on 3/4 oz  jig heads…also using 1 1/2 oz or 2 oz  godfather slabs…the godfather is chart in color with a glow in the dark sticker on one side… on Tawakoni when you get down 15 feet or more it’s dark the glow baits will be glowing as if they had a build in light…you can get these baits at www.moestackleshop.com … when fish are breaking the surface with in casting distance cast at them with sassy shad and  retrieve at a medium speed…if they are not breaking a round your boat try letting the bait sink some before retrieving…the godfather has been producing lots of fish bouncing off the bottom…and the drop & retrieve… free spool to bottom as soon as it hits bottom crank your reel 2 to 10 turns of the reel handle…as soon as you stop cranking let the bait free spool back to bottom…repeat this over & over…number of cranks depend on depth of water and what depth the fish are at…when your cranking this bait up the fish will be chasing it when you stop and let it fall the fish will have to eat it or run over it…I prefer to use artificial baits but in these dog days of summer when the feeding action is over we have been trolling with down riggers or using live shad both are putting fish in the boat…Please only keep the fish you want to eat and release the rest…here are some pics of recent trips.
