Welcome to Joe Read’s Guide Service on beautiful Lake Tawakoni, the best all around fishing lake in the state of Texas. With its huge forage fish population, the gamefish such as Stripers, Hybrids, and Sandbass thrive in its waters. At the age of 7, I can remember standing on the unfinished dam watching the machinery move the dirt that would soon complete the dam. I have fished and hunted all my life, have had other jobs, but I live to fish and hunt. I have been making a living as a full-time fishing guide on Lake Tawakoni since 1988. Unlike many other guides who participate at a part-time level, I guide full-time and depend on catching fish to earn your repeat business. I am one of the few guides specializing in the use of artificial lures, working hard to ensure that you have a fun-filled adventure while catching fish.

Beginner or advanced fisherman. I will gear the trip to meet your needs to ensure you have the adventure of a lifetime.

You will be fishing from my 24’10” Gator Bay center console boat, with plenty of room to fish four anglers plus myself. The 2410 Gator Bay is very safe, stable, dry and smooth riding with lots of storage for gear. Powered with a Mercury 225 Optimax, Minnkota 101 trolling motor. The boat is equipped with Lowrance fish finding sonars and GPS.
